“High quality in implantology can be identified by measurable factors: an implant system backed by decades of clinical documentation, planning supported by cone-beam CT (DVT) and scans, minimally invasive navigated surgery, all-ceramic prosthetics from a master dental laboratory.”
The Principle
Cone-beam CT scan, intraoral scans, structured assessment. The first appointment isn't treatment — it's a conversation backed by data.
From the final dental prosthesis back to the surgery. What should exist at the end determines the first step — not the other way round.
One team under one roof: surgery, prosthetics, laboratory.

WHAT DOES HIGH-QUALITY MEAN
“High-quality” is a word that often comes up in connection with dental implants. Anyone in Leipzig looking for high-quality dental implants usually wants one thing: a restoration that does not cause worries after a short time, but does its job reliably for years. Yet with an implant, quality is not a single property that can be attached like a label. It arises from the interplay of many components: the implant system used, the materials, the accuracy of planning, the care taken during the procedure, the quality of the prosthetic restoration and consistent aftercare. Only when all these links in the chain are right can one speak of a truly high-quality treatment.
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is anchored in the jawbone and replaces a lost tooth in its original position. The visible restoration – a crown, a bridge, or a permanently anchored denture – is then attached to this foundation. Unlike a bridge, this does not require healthy neighbouring teeth to be ground down, and unlike a removable denture, the restoration does not rest on the mucosa but on a firm anchor in the bone. Because this procedure combines surgery, knowledge of bone, and fine prosthetic work, the quality of every single phase determines how reliable the final result will be.
The Zahnkompetenzzentrum Dr. med. dent. M.Sc. Sandro Strößner in Weißenfels focuses on implantology and high-quality dental prosthetics. For patients from Leipzig, the practice is about 40 minutes by car (A9) south-west of the city. On this page, we explain what “high-quality” specifically means for an implant, how quality can be recognised in each phase of treatment, and why it is worth paying attention to value, especially for a long-term restoration. This allows you to judge for yourself what matters to you.
A common misconception is that a high-quality implant can be recognised simply by the manufacturer's name or the price. Both are indicators, but neither is a guarantee. A first-class implant system only realises its value when it is precisely planned, cleanly placed, and fitted with an equally carefully made crown. Conversely, even the best prosthetic work is of little use if the foundation in the bone was poorly positioned. Quality is therefore measured by the weakest link in the chain – and this is exactly why we look at treatment as a whole, from the first diagnostics through to the final check-up.
IMPLANT SYSTEM
The implant itself – the artificial root in the bone – is a high-precision component. There is a large number of systems on the market from a wide range of manufacturers, which differ considerably in shape, surface, connection technology, and, above all, quality control. Established brand manufacturers, whose systems have been scientifically monitored and used extensively for many years, are among what is often referred to in everyday language as a “premium implant system”. The difference from very cheap systems is rarely obvious at first glance, but lies in details that only become apparent over the years.
One hallmark of quality in established systems is the surface of the implant. It is designed so that bone can grow onto the implant effectively – a process known as osseointegration, which creates a firm hold. Such surfaces are researched over years and very precisely controlled during manufacturing. A second hallmark is the connection between the implant and the component fitted onto it: a precise connection with a minimal gap helps keep the construction mechanically stable and reduces the amount of bacteria that can accumulate at the join. This precision of fit is an area where high-quality systems make the effort behind them visible.
A third, often underestimated criterion is the long-term availability of components. An implant is meant to last many years – and during that time, a crown may need to be renewed or a component replaced. With an established system from a major manufacturer, matching components are generally available over long periods. With very cheap or unusual systems, however, it can become difficult to find the right replacement part years later – a point that is easily overlooked in the initial decision, but that matters a great deal later on.
At the Zahnkompetenzzentrum, we attach importance to working with established, high-quality implant systems whose properties are well documented and whose components remain available. Which system is suitable in your case depends on the location of the gap, the available bone, and the planned restoration. We do not make this choice across the board, but individually – and are happy to explain why we opt for a particular approach. Using a high-quality system does not allow a specific result to be inferred for the individual case, but it does provide a solid, well-plannable foundation.
MATERIAL & PROSTHETICS
What patients ultimately see and feel is not the implant in the bone, but the restoration fitted onto it: the crown, the bridge, or the denture. This is exactly where quality becomes most immediately apparent to the person – in the colour, the shape, the fit, and the feel when chewing. High-quality prosthetic treatment is therefore not an accessory, but a central part of what makes implant treatment valuable. It calls for careful material selection, precise impressions, and good collaboration between the practice and the dental laboratory.
Two materials are mainly available for the implant itself. Titanium has been in use for decades and is known for its good compatibility and mechanical strength; it is used in most situations. Ceramic implants – usually based on zirconium oxide – are metal-free and naturally tooth-coloured, which can offer aesthetic advantages, particularly in the visible front-tooth area or where the gum tissue is very thin. Both materials are available in high-quality versions. Which material is right for you depends on the location of the gap, the available bone volume, the aesthetics you want, and your personal preferences – there is no single best solution overall.
For the visible restoration, high-quality ceramic materials are used today that refract light in a similar way to a natural tooth. A well-made implant crown blends in with the neighbouring teeth in colour, shape and surface texture, so that, as a rule, it does not stand out to the eye as a foreign body. Just as important is how the crown shapes the transition to the gum: a harmonious, well-cared-for gum line contributes considerably to a natural appearance. These fine details do not come about by chance, but through careful planning and close coordination with the dental technician.
Function is just as crucial as appearance. A high-quality restoration fits precisely, does not interfere when biting and is adjusted in the bite so that forces are distributed favourably. We check the bite carefully after placement and make fine adjustments where necessary, because unfavourable loading can, over time, strain both the restoration and the surrounding tissue. Quality here means taking this time.
An often underestimated factor in high-quality treatment is dental technology. Crowns, bridges, or dentures are made in a dental laboratory, and the quality of this work depends on the technician's experience, the materials used, and the accuracy of the data provided. A precise impression or digital scan, clear communication about colour and shape, and a reliable laboratory are all essential for turning good planning into a good result. We place great value on careful collaboration with the dental laboratory, because this is where a significant part of the visible quality is created.
PRECISE PLANNING
A significant part of what makes an implant high-quality is not visible to patients at all: the planning that precedes the procedure. Forward-looking, precise planning determines where, at what depth, and at what angle the implant sits – and thus how favourably it can be anchored surgically and loaded prosthetically. Careful work here lays the foundation for a reliable result.
Three-dimensional X-ray diagnostics allow the jaw to be assessed not just in two dimensions but spatially. This makes bone height, bone width, and the position of anatomical structures such as nerve canals or the maxillary sinus visible, which can only be seen to a limited extent on a classic two-dimensional X-ray. On this basis, we plan the position, size, and axis of the implant and realistically assess whether bone augmentation is needed. This precision does not serve technology for its own sake, but your safety: the better the starting situation is understood, the more predictably the procedure can be planned.
From the three-dimensional data, the planned implant position can be transferred to an individually made surgical guide, which guides the procedure along the previously determined axis and depth. This guide-led approach combines planning on screen with implementation in the mouth. The decisive gain in quality lies in the fact that the later restoration is factored in from the very start: the implant is not placed simply wherever there happens to be bone, but where the crown will later sit best, both functionally and aesthetically. This is referred to as planning “backwards” – starting from the desired tooth.
This combination of surgery and prosthetics within a single continuous plan is one of the clearest hallmarks of high-quality implant treatment. It calls for more preparation and more care, but it pays off in a more predictable course of treatment and a result that is oriented towards the final outcome from the outset. Whether a template-guided approach makes sense in your case depends on your particular situation and is assessed individually.
Quality takes time – this applies to planning just as much as to the procedure itself. A high-quality approach is characterised by every step being carried out carefully and gently on the tissue, without unnecessary time pressure. This starts with a detailed consultation, in which your wishes, medical history, and medication are recorded, continues through thorough diagnostics, and extends into aftercare. We deliberately take this time, because care in the details affects the whole.
WHY QUALITY MATTERS
A dental implant is an investment designed to last for many years. Unlike an everyday item that you simply replace when it wears out, further treatment at the same site involves considerable effort. This is exactly why it is worth paying attention to quality from the outset. A high-quality restoration is designed to function reliably for a long time – although no specific timeframe can be guaranteed, as the outcome depends on many individual factors. What can be said, however, is this: care taken at the start creates the best possible conditions.
A high-quality, precisely placed implant with a well-made restoration is generally easier to care for, because the transitions are cleanly designed and less plaque builds up. A well-considered bite design distributes forces favourably and puts less strain on the tissue. The availability of components from an established system makes later adjustments easier. None of this is individually spectacular, but together these factors help determine how satisfied you remain with a restoration over the years. Here, quality is, above all, day-to-day reliability.
Even a high-quality implant does not replace regular care and check-ups. Like a natural tooth, an implant needs careful daily cleaning and professional support. At regular follow-up appointments, we check the fit of the restoration, the condition of the gum around the implant, and your care at home. This makes it possible to spot changes early. Professional dental cleaning and good oral hygiene are among the most important elements in ensuring an implant continues to serve you well for a long time – even the most expensive restoration is of little use if care is neglected.
High quality is therefore not a state you buy once and then forget about, but an interplay of good treatment and shared care over time. We do not see our task as a one-off procedure, but as ongoing support that does not end once the dental prosthetics are fitted. For patients from Leipzig, we are happy to arrange aftercare appointments so that they fit well with the journey – on request, also in coordination with your regular dentist locally.
DIRECTIONS & PROCESS
Weißenfels is located in southern Saxony-Anhalt, in the Burgenlandkreis, and is easy to reach from Leipzig. By car, the route usually leads via the A9 motorway and the B91 federal road; depending on your starting point in the city and the traffic situation, the journey time is generally about 40 minutes. If you are starting from the south or south-west of Leipzig, you will often be here a little sooner. Weißenfels is also connected by rail from Leipzig main station, so travelling without your own car is possible too. It is best to check the current timetable directly with the rail operator, as connections can change.
In Weißenfels, you can usually find parking without a long search, distances are short, and the surroundings are calmer than in a big-city centre. After sedation or general anaesthesia, you must not drive yourself for 24 hours; a companion will take you home.
Implant treatment is a planned process that extends across several appointments and weeks. Between individual phases lie deliberately chosen healing periods, during which the tissue settles. For patients from Leipzig, it is worth looking at the typical course, so that journeys and appointments can be planned well. The specific order and duration always depend on your personal situation and may vary in individual cases.
Where medically justifiable, we try to combine treatment steps sensibly for patients travelling from further afield, to keep the number of journeys manageable. You remain closely involved throughout treatment and know, before every step, what happens next.
COST & VALUE
The cost of implant treatment depends on many factors: the number of implants, the system and material used, the type of dental prosthetics, and whether bone augmentation or other preliminary treatment is needed. For this reason, no flat-rate price can be given. Before treatment begins, we provide you with a written, comprehensible treatment and cost plan listing every item, so that you have a clear basis for your decision.
When comparing quotes for implants, you may come across large price differences. A high-quality implant system, careful three-dimensional planning, a precisely made restoration from good materials, and the time invested in it all have their value. These factors are not visible at first, but they affect the quality and reliability of the restoration. We explain transparently which services are included in your cost plan, so that you can weigh value against price.
It matters to us that you are not choosing between “expensive” and “cheap”, but understand what you are paying for. That is why we discuss together which restoration makes medical sense while also fitting your circumstances, and explain the treatment and cost plan item by item. On request, we can also discuss possible payment arrangements, so that high-quality treatment remains manageable to plan. Travelling from Leipzig does not add any extra treatment costs.
Statutory health insurers pay a fixed subsidy for dental prosthetics based on the diagnosis, calculated against standard care. As the implant itself usually goes beyond standard care, an out-of-pocket share generally remains – even with high-quality treatment. Keeping a bonus booklet regularly and without gaps can increase the subsidy. The fixed subsidy is regulated uniformly across Germany – so as a patient insured in Leipzig, you have the same entitlement as you would for treatment in Saxony. Privately insured patients and those with supplementary insurance should clarify reimbursement with their insurer in advance, as conditions vary by tariff. We are happy to prepare a treatment and cost plan for you that you can submit to your health insurer before treatment begins – simply get in touch with us on 03443 / 339 65 54.

Quality in implantology can be pinned down to measurable factors: an implant system with decades of clinical documentation, CBCT- and scan-based planning, minimally invasive navigated surgery, and all-ceramic prosthetics from the master laboratory. You will find all of this at our Zahnkompetenzzentrum in Weißenfels.
We work with established, well-documented systems. For this, we use all-ceramic crowns and bridges made of biocompatible zirconia and individually customised abutments. The result is generally natural-looking, functionally stable restorations designed to last for many years.
What convinced me was the absence of marketing. No promises. Just planning, explanation, execution. I had eight implants placed and didn't even feel like I'd made a difficult decision.
